Warhammer: The Old World League

PHALANX

PHALANX is a Warhammer: The Old World league focused on disciplined ranks, grinding battles, and the slow, decisive collapse of enemy lines. Whether you march beneath ancient heraldry or drive forward a wall of iron and resolve, victory belongs to those who hold formation when the world breaks around them.

League Overview

• Season Length: 12 weeks
• Rounds: 6 total
• Round Length: 2 weeks per round
• Format: Assigned scenario and opponent each round

Each round, players will have two weeks to complete their game and report results.

Best Coast Pairings (BCP) will be used for:

• Pairings
• Score tracking
• League standings

Communication Requirements

Participation in the Red Claw Gaming Discord is required for league communication and opponent coordination.

If you choose not to join the Discord, it is your responsibility to arrange games using alternative methods such as Facebook or direct messaging.

League Rules

• All games will be played using Warhammer: The Old World Core Rules
• Scenarios will be drawn from:
• The Old World Core Rulebook
• Official expansions or event-provided scenario packs
• All Games will be played at 2000pts
• There will be a period between rounds on the First Day of each round to change lists or armies these MUST be submitted on BCP during this period.

Scenario details will be provided at the start of each round.

• Games do not need to be played at Red Claw Gaming
• However, terrain and tables will be available in-store
• Sundays are the recommended Old World play days

Match Reporting & Conduct

• Failure to report your game result by the end of the round will result in a Draw
• Failure to respond to your opponent before the deadline will result in a Loss
• Repeated failure to communicate may result in removal from the league

Registration

• League Entry Fee: $20 per player
• Covers league administration and prizing

Army Construction

• Armies must be built using:
• Warhammer: The Old World Core Rules
• Official army lists and supplements released by Games Workshop
• Army points values and restrictions will be announced prior to Round 1
• Players are expected to use the same army faction throughout the league
• Minor list changes between rounds are allowed unless otherwise specified

Rules & FAQ Cut-Off

• Rules updates and FAQs will lock at the start of each two-week round
• Any updates released after pairings are posted will apply to the following round

Models & Hobby Guidelines

• Conversions and custom models are allowed
• Proxies are not allowed
• All models must be easily identifiable and represent appropriate equipment

If you are unsure whether a model is acceptable, contact event staff before playing your game.

Painting Requirements

• There are no mandatory painting requirements
• All players will receive any victory points normally tied to painting or hobby scores

There will be a dedicated Armies on Parade Day, where players can showcase their forces and vote on:

• Best Painted Army
• Best Theme / Narrative Army

Terrain & Table Guidelines

• Terrain should be appropriate for Warhammer: The Old World
• Hills, forests, ruins, rivers, and obstacles are encouraged
• Players may use any terrain set by mutual agreement
• Red Claw Gaming tables and terrain are available for use

Player Conduct

• Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or unwanted physical contact will not be tolerated
• Treat opponents with respect and patience
• Remember: everyone has different schedules and experience levels
