The Landing Craft Support, Medium was an adaptation of the LCA (Landing Craft Assault) troop carrier. The LCS(M) was in production from 1942 until 1944. Lightly armoured, the craft was armed with turret-mounted twin Vickers 50 caliber machine-guns, a 4-inch mortar, and a pair of Lewis guns. First deployed at the Dieppe landings, they participated in actions at Salerno, Normandy, the Scheldt estuary, Burma, and Malaya.
